Massage can help relax the muscles and increase blood flow, which in turn can provide temporary relief from pain. Ask your doctor or physiotherapist for advice.
Doís and doníts of massage:
• Always use a lubricant when massaging anywhere Ė though not if the skin is broken, in which case you should avoid massaging the area
• Stop the massage if pain develops
• Do not massage an inflamed joint, but you can massage around it to promote circulation
